The Aidis Trust Transition Project
As disabled children grow older and become young adults, the support they receive for technology from education is removed. Aidis offers services that will help as they transition from education to independent living.
To ensure young people are prepared for when they leave education, we run workshops that inform them of how using adapted technology can help them transition. These events also allow the young adults to try the latest technology, hear about the experiences (good and bad) other disabled people had after leaving education, and how they can continue to use technology to overcome barriers they may face.
These events also allow the children and young adults and other interested parties to try the latest technology. They will hear of contrasting experiences other disabled people have had due to having varying levels of technology support after leaving education, and how they continue to use technology to overcome barriers they may face.
The focus is to help people consider how technology might enable them to do things they thought they could not achieve and to have a source of continuity in the support of their existing technology.
