The Grid
The Grid is communication software that enables full access to all PC functions via a single or dual switch, ideal for use by anyone with limited motor skills or learning disabilities. It can be controlled via a touch screen, switch, mouse or keyboard.

It's absolutely excellent. She is getting on really well with the whole package. At sixth form she can contribute so much. She can use her voice now and it's given her an immense self confidence. She uses it nearly every day. She has a few words but this has made her express herself. She really enjoys using it. She is a great advocate for others and would want them to enjoy things as much as she does.

Information
The Grid software allows you to communicate using words, pictures or symbols. This is done by building or editing existing examples that can be moved to an area at the top of the screen, ready to be spoken either as single words or sentences. The number of symbols that come with the software is limited, but there is an additional symbol set which is available separately. Alternatively, picture and communication symbols (PECS) can be imported, so you can customise it as you wish.
The Grid also allows you to use the Internet, write letters and send emails. The program scans custom made grids that emulate the keyboard and mouse, allowing you to access almost any PC software with just 1 or 2 switches.
In addition, there are custom made grids that work with specific programs such as Internet Explorer and Outlook Express, and also a set of grids designed to interface with an environmental control system.

That's the on-screen keyboard? I really enjoyed it, it's difficult for me to use a keyboard. I find the clickers work well with The Grid. I can't use the keyboard as its too difficult. I think The Grid is fantastic for me and its very easy for people like myself. I think I'm working well with it. Of all the equipment I've tested, that was the best. I'm really pleased with it.
