Free software
The Free software available through www.aidis.org is often developed by a group of people with an interest in whatever the software is going to do, and who develop it as a hobby, not for profit.
What this means for you, as someone using it, is as follows:
- you should never have to pay for it;
- it may contain bugs and errors, depending on how well it has been written and tested;
- it may have very limited documentation, such as installation and user guides;
- you may not be able to get technical support;
- the software may stop being developed.
Alhough this sounds rather negative, a lot of free software is brilliant, very well supported, and very unlikely to disappear.
If you pay for the software, you should be getting a guaranteed level of support, usually with clear documentation.
We cannot guarantee that all the free software we recommend will exist for ever, or that it will be well supported. Obviously, if you pay for a product, there is more chance that this will happen.
Also, Aidis cannot be held responsible for any problems with software you download and install through www.aidis.org.
