Clicker 5

Clicker 5 is a powerful tool which incorporates both switch access and mouse control. It is designed to encourage children to write anything from simple sentences through to more complex pieces of text.

He likes going on it. He enjoys it because he likes the noises and speech. He usually uses it every day. I think it's good. It listens to the noises and he can tell you what animal is what.

Information

Clicker is one of the most common literacy programs found in both mainstream and special needs primary schools. With its ability to save and load up grids on different computers, children are able to continue their school learning at home.

Clicker encourages children to expand their vocabulary and build sentences by using symbols, pictures, word banks, talking books, word and picture association, text-to-speech, and a colourful user interface.

Clicker 5 has many customisable features, including creating your own grids which can include pictures, videos and sounds. The grids can be tailored to suit the ability and needs of individual users. There is also a wide selection of pre-made grids available for free download from the Clicker Software web site.

Clicker 5 is the latest upgrade to the widely used Clicker 4. However, Clicker 5 has a number of limitations compared with its predecessor, especially when it comes to creating custom-made grids. It is also only possible to use switches with Clicker 5 when the program is used in conjunction with Crick's own switch box.
