Seven years ago Aidis provided an adapted computer system to James, then an eight year old child with severe Cerebral Palsy (CP). James' condition makes him very difficult to understand and affects his fine motor control. Four years after we first helped, James was given a dedicated communication aid from another organisation. Unfortunately, it remained unused for three years because the family had not received the necessary training. This is a fairly common story.

Recently, however, James' father contacted Aidis about the possibility of receiving some updated equipment after seven years. He mentioned the disused communication aid in passing. This equipment costs over £1,500 and had remained unused for three years. It could also help him greatly in his day-to-day life. We were able to provide training on the communication aid within our target of 2 weeks.

James now uses his communication aid every day and it is helping him communicate to gain the G.C.S.E.s. He is hoping to go on to complete his A-Levels and eventually gain a degree. We are delighted to be helping him gain this education and move towards becoming an employed and contributing member of society.
